Okays, this time we've got 5 new members, so welcome!! Not a whole lot to say, strangely... I have been thinking about stopping with updating the members list, since it's over 2 pages now, and we're getting ready to come up to 400 members. I am super happy that there's so many ppl who want to join this club, but that's a ton of icons to have to keep track of, what with people moving accounts or leaving dA or abandoning their accounts for who-knows-how-long... so I'll keep track up until member #500, who will get a free request from me (coloured and everything), then I'll take down the members pages. Cause the rules clearly state that all you have to do to join is devwatch the club, so if you're in the "Watchers" list, you're a member. It'll save me a ton of time, anyway.

For deviations, I got a few still left to do... I'll try to get them up this next week, since I got a few free days for once. Oh, gotta tell everyone I recently got hired at Michaels (arts & crafts store), so now that I have 2 jobs, my free time is kinda limited until after XMas. I'm just glad I'm ultra-nocturnal (meaning I'm momst active at nite), so I'll have time after work to draw and come to dA and etc.

As for upgrading this club into a Group (which it will be), there's still been no word on that yet, but I'll be keeping you guys informed of that as I find out more.

This will be where all members can ask any Hikari-related questions that are not found in any of the other journals. I've had some people ask me some questions before, related to Hikari and this club, so I thought it'd be a good idea to have a separate journal for those questions.

If you want to ask a question: Just comment in this journal or send the club a note. That's it, and I'll get to your answer right away.

Please keep in mind that all questions asked here will be anonymous, meaning I will not release the names of any person who asks a question. There might be some of you who could be afraid to ask a question because they think it's a dumb one, so feel free to send the question via a note, and your name will never be mentioned. If you're afraid of the staff members seeing the question, send it to my regular account (notes only; I'll ignore comments on my main page), where you know it's only me who sees it.

I'm gonna be adding in my own questions here, since I realised I forgot to make a journal for joining and etc.



Q. How do I join the club??
A: Very simple. Just add the club to your watch list. I'd really prefer it if you would also put the club's icon in your journal as well.

Q. How do I submit artwork??
A. Send the club a note titled "Submission" or "Submit". In the body of the note, put the link to your artwork in it. I'd prefer links over thumbnails, though.

Q. How do I affiliate my club with this one??
A. Just send a note titled "Affiliate" and ask for an affiliation. You do not have to watch the club, either.

Q. Does this club support Berlitz, the character from the Pokemon Special manga??
A: Yes, it does. We support Hikari from the Anime, the female character in the Diamond/Pearl/Platinum games and Platina Berlitz in the Pokemon Special Manga.

Q. Does the club support any fancouplings involving Hikari/Dawn??
A: No. Personally, I support PearlShipping, but for the club, no fancoupling whatsoever will be allowed. I'm tired of having ppl argue their fave fancoupling, or think that if they don't like PearlShipping they can't join. So I'll say it once again: I do not care what fancoupling you support, this is a club for fans of Hikari ONLY.

Q. Does the club support Mitsumi, the main female character in the Pokemon: Diamond and Pearl Adventure! Manga?? (this is a page about her: [link])
A: Yes. According to Bulbapedia, Mitsumi's character is based loosely on Hikari, so... yeah. Close enough for me.

Q. Is it taboo to use Hikari's English-dub name here??
A: Nope. I just prefer the Japanese name cause it's the right one, and it sounds a lot better than her dub name.

Q. Why do the club submissions have watermarks and/or are dimmed??
A: This is because of the stupid fav-ninjas who just fave and run, and don't take the time to fave the original pictures. So in order to save the hassle, I'm now dimming the pictures (meaning I stick a layer on top of it in PhotoShop and reduce the opacity), and putting a big ol' white "DO NOT FAV" on everything. I'm even going back to the start of the gallery and doing the same thing. As long as those idiot fav-ninjas are out and about, I'll have to keep doing it.

This is just a little tidbit of information for those who may not know much (or anything) about Hikari.

Hikari hails from the beginning town in the Diamond & Pearl video games, Futaba Town. Her Japanese name means "light", while her dub name has a similar meaning, but the beginning letter, "D", also correlates to the Pokemon Diamond game. (Shinji, or Paul, has the correlation to the Pokemon Pearl game) "Berlitz" is her family name in the Manga, while her first name, Platina, is directly related to the recently-released Pokemon Platinum (Platina in Japan).

When she is first seen in the Anime, Hikari almost immediately reveals she wants to become a Pokemon Coordinator, just like her mother was. When she later goes to Nanakamado-hakase's (Professor Rowan) lab in Masago Town, she chooses Pochama as her starter after having a little "misadventure" with the water Pokemon. Hikari tries to start her journey as a Trainer/Coordinator alone, but quickly realises it's not as easy as she had thought. While trying in vain to catch different Pokemon, she runs across Satoshi's Pikachu, who was badly hurt from an earlier encounter with Roketto-dan (Team Rocket). Once she finds out it belongs to a trainer, she takes it to the Pokemon Center to heal, then she back-tracked to try to find Pikachu's trainer. She later finds Satoshi and Takeshi, and she later joins them in their travels thru-out the Shinou region.

After a few embarrassing attempts at trying to catch a Mimioru, Hikari finally gets one. Strangely enough, this Mimioru has a huge crush on Satoshi's Pikachu. Later on, Hikari enters her first Pokemon Contest and loses in the second round. Within a few more eps, she catches a Pachirisu, who has a very spunky attitude and was originally very hard for her to control. Sometime later, she enters a second Contest and wins the ribbon. Another expanse of time later, she catches a Buiseru (Buizel), but later trades it for Satoshi's Eipam (Aipom), which later evolves into Etebosu (Ambipom). About 50 episodes after she caught Buiseru, Hikari catches an Urimoo (Swinub). Later on, Urimoo evolves all the way to Manmoo (Mamoswine), and like Satoshi's Rizudon (Charizard), it refuses to obey her for a time. In DP124, Hikari "released" her Etebosu, giving it to the champion of the Pokemon Ping-Pong tournament.

Hikari has entered many contests; however, she has lost in the first round of two contests. This has never happened to Haruka (May), who was the first Coordinator to travel with Satoshi. Hikari has entered other contests outside of the normal Super Contests, and has managed to win a current total of four ribbons. There are a lot of similarities between Hikari and Satoshi, but I won't go into them, since some people may think I'm trying to convince others to become PearlShippers. If there's anything else you'd like to contribute to this, or if you have any questions, feel free to comment. Oh yeah, I got some of this info from Bulbapedia, in case anyone's wondering. Most of it is stuff I already knew.

Here are the club's rules that MUST be followed. There are exceptions, but they are very minimal. If you have any questions, note either one of the staff members or the club itself, and we will resolve it ASAP.

1. NO YURI!! I cannot stand yuri, so I will not tolerate it in my club.

2. NO HENTAI!!: Same as with the yuri; I can't stand hentai, so I will not allow it here. Fanservice is allowed to a certain extent, though.

3. Fancoupling of any sort is NOT allowed here. This is a fanclub for Hikari only, so mainly what I'd like to see submitted to the club's gallery is just Hikari. She can be in a picture with other people and/or Pokemon, but nothing romantic, and nothing that suggests romance. There are fanclubs for the other shippings, so if you'd like to display that art in a club, please go there instead.

4. NO FLAMING/BASHING of Hikari and/or any members of the club!! Please be polite when talking to other members about their fandom of Hikari and/or their artwork... we want to encourage our fellow fans, not hurt them. And PLEASE don't go around saying stuff like, "Hikari is mine!!" or something like that; Hikari-chan is just a character in an Anime that a lot of us like, nothing more. Please leave it at that, no matter what you may say/think/feel, mmkay??

5. Have fun!! As before, this is just a club to celebrate people's fandom of Hikari (Dawn) from Pokemon. It's best to keep things neutral if necessary; I'd like things to be a lot of fun here if possible.

THEME: Hikari n' Me
Basically, just draw yourself with Hikari. NO SHIPPINGS, THOUGH!! (and for those who don't know what "shipping" means, it's putting someone in a non-existent romantic coupling with someone else) The idea of this contest is to show yourself having fun with Hikari-chan in one way or another... maybe working together in a contest (or helping the other prepare for a contest), doing a tag-team battle (or against each other for fun), or even something unrelated to Pokemon, like having lunch or singing at a karaoke bar or something. Be creative!!

Judging: I will be the judge again, and if I have a hard time picking the winners, then my RL sister ~drakkula will help me. She's impartial and isn't a fan of Hikari (she mainly likes the Pokemon themselves). And she helped me pick the winners last time. And please keep in mind, I DO NOT JUDGE ON TALENT!! I judge solely on creativity.

Prizes: Since I can't afford subscriptions, the prizes can only be giftart, I'm afraid. Here's a list of what each person will win:
-First place: 2 coloured requests, 2 lineart requests
-Second place: 1 coloured request, 2 lineart requests
-Third place: 1 coloured request, 1 lineart request
-All participants who do not win: 1 lineart request

IF YOU DID NOT CLAIM YOUR PRIZE FROM THE PREVIOUS CONTEST (AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE), YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS CONTEST. And you can't say you didn't know, because I sent EVERY participant a note. And you also can't say you didn't have enough time, because the winners were announced in May. THREE MONTHS ago. You're welcome to participate in the 7th contest, though, but not this one.

DEADLINE: Okay, I'm tired of waiting for the 5th entry, so the deadline is 20 November. No extensions.
